there’s no place like home is a series of drawings utilizing Google Maps images framed in 1000m distance above the ground.
Originally conceived to travel frame by frame from Brooklyn home at the time of the drawings back to Sanbon, South Korea, past home before migrating to the US. The drawings are also a way of note-taking while listening to various lectures and podcasts.
After 14 drawings came the realization of the impossibility, or rather absurdity of spending hours everyday for decades to arrive at a place that doesn’t and won’t exist if the project is even complete. Unlike the common notion of ‘home sweet home’, no place is permanent.
